Today We Celebrate The Vibrancy Of - Being a Woman
In our latest campaign, we worked with women from across Australia who came and took part in something truly spectacular. We set out to create something that recognises and honours women, amazing women who embody all that Mode & Affaire stands for. We love to meet those who love what we create. This love of luxury and glamour. Wild colours. Precious textures
“She is innately stylish. Her instincts are pure fashion. Confident and fearless, she dresses in a way that reflects who she is. She is a lover of luxury who indulges her senses.
She has an exquisite appreciation of the beauty, glamour and timelessness of fashion.”
We worked with three fearless, bold and infectiously vivacious women, their ages ranging from 60 - 79 years old, and the life and vibrancy they bought on set was nothing short of infectious. To work with them was a true honour and one of those spectacular moments that we will never forget.
I hope we have captured their vibrancy.
Be brave, be bold, be fearless.
“You don't stop laughing when you grow old, you grow old when you stop laughing.”
― George Bernard Shaw
A Mother's Love - Interview With Jennifer McMahon
1.
"What has been the biggest lesson you have learnt since becoming a mother?"
TO LET GO - It’s still an ongoing lesson and journey for me into motherhood is to let go. Speaking for the Newborn Mother period, it’s a shock to the system! Coming from a life of ‘achievement’ and ‘getting things done’ it’s been tough as this little human who has stolen your heart needs your attention 80% of the time and that 20% left is when you sleep, eat, do the washing and resemble some form of self care! My solution - twirl around the lounge room channeling Elsa belting out ‘let it go.....” it works a treat :
2.
"What advice would you give to first time mother's?"
Make HELP your favourite word...
ACCEPT help when offered
ASK for help when needed
PAY for help if able
I feel women in general put too much pressure on themselves to ‘do everything’ (me included!) There is no shame in asking for help regardless if you have one child or ten! There’s a reason for the saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’. If you haven’t slept in weeks and can’t face the washing pile, ask a family member to come over and help. If a friend offers to drop you off a home cooked dinner, accept it with gratitude and if you’re able to sacrifice something financially to pay for a cleaner then DO IT! Strength is showing vulnerability and we all need help.
3.
"How has becoming a mother changed you as a woman?"
It’s changed everything, my view on life and what’s important, how I choose to spend my time and who I choose to spend it with. Priorities change and it’s for the better. My mother always said to me growing up (particularly when I was giving her a hard time..) “you’ll never know love until you experience the love for your own child” (partly the reason why I got away with so much growing up) After Vienna was born I gave my mum a hug and said “I’m sorry for any pain I caused you growing up, I now understand ”.
4.
"How will you be spending your first Mother's Day this year?"
Chris is planning a surprise in the morning (so if you’re reading this honey, I’m expecting an Açaí bowl in bed with a homemade Chai and endless foot massages and back rubs.... haha)
In all seriousness as long as I wake up to see Viennas little face, nothing else matters!
Stonebarn Collab Shoot Featured In 'To The Aisle'
Our recent styled wedding photoshoot set against the rustically simplistic backdrop of WA’s South West was just pure magic. The fusion of luxe bohemian vibes and intricately decorated long tables adorned with natural botanicals created a stunning atmosphere in every sense of the word! This exciting collaboration curated by such a talented team of creatives was recently featured in Issue 13 of To The Aisle online magazine (check it out!).
The Stonebarn venue overflows with rustic charm. The gorgeous bespoke details including the high wood-beam ceilings delicately adorned with twinkling fairy lights, entwined with the stunning natural landscape just exudes warmth. Highlighting the beauty of the wild with its retreat-like atmosphere we understand how easy it is to be to be swept up in the romance and undercurrent of escapism in this beautiful setting.
Champagne in hand, what better way to begin your special day than being pampered and getting ready with your favourite ladies while wearing the glamorous Peggy Robe. Featuring the divine ostrich feather cuffs and silhouette defining luxurious satin, you’ll feel like the goddess (your soon-to-be husband knows) you are.
The vintage aesthetic combined with undisturbed views of lush forest, complimented the elegant yet understated ivory gown worn by our stunning model. But wait, there’s more… no outfit is complete without a touch of embellishment!! Sophie wears our intricately hand-beaded Jody Earrings, offering extra dimension with its tassel drop design and a pop of pastel colour to her chic ensemble. We adore the glamorous statement these earrings add to any shoulder bearing outfit.
Continuing with the playful feel of a dreamy farmhouse wedding, Sophie wears the spectacular Ostrich Feather Skirt creating whimsical movement with every step (down the aisle!) Now imagine as the reception begins to kick into full swing, strutting out onto the dance floor and shaking those tail feathers! As fun to look at as it is to wear, this skirt is EVERYTHING.
And if the excitement and adrenaline of your big day doesn’t quite keep your body temperature soaring as the sun begins to set, stay warm in our Plume Feather Jacket in the softest blush hue (Pictured).

Met Gala Fashion: Behind the Scenes
“Fashion.. it’s a kind of theatre” – Vogue Editor in Chief, Anna Wintour
Celebrating art, fashion and film for the AW16 Fashion Film Festival, we were delighted to be a feature of the exclusive advance screening night of “The First Monday in May”.
The Gala Premiere took place leading up to Met Gala 2016 at Luna Palace Cinemas in Leederville, Monday the 2nd of May.
The costume theming of the night coordinated with the documentary, which gives a behind the scenes insight into what planning the 2015 Met Gala Exhibition “China: Through the Looking Glass” was like.
Gorgeous models from Vivien’s Model Management paraded in outfits by Australian women’s fashion labels Camilla and Marc, Empire Rose and Mode & Affaire.
Our fur jackets, fur stoles and ostrich feather boleros looked absolutely stunning and we enjoyed being a part of the evening.
